Video dedicated to Holocaust Remembrance Day
year:2024
To mark this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Ukrainian left-wing media outlet Spilne, the NGO “After the Silence”, and the linza agency created video reels about this terrible tragedy.
Before the outbreak of the Soviet-German war, the Jewish population on the territory of Ukraine amounted to almost 3 million, most of whom were unable to evacuate. The number of victims exceeded 1,600,000. This is more than a quarter of the total.
“Many historical and philosophical works have been devoted to understanding the tragedy of the Holocaust and how these events became possible. However, with each passing year and each new generation, the memory of these events becomes more abstract and distant. The idea behind our animation was to make it more alive and accessible to the audience. That’s why we decided to voice and illustrate the memories of the witnesses of those terrible events,” says Badeha Lila, a communicator at Spilne magazine.
The video was created with the support of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in Ukraine.
