Inclusive Reconstruction of Ukrainian Cities
year:2023
The main goal of our information campaign, developed for the NGO Dostupno.UA, was to raise awareness of the issue of accessibility of urban spaces and to tell how to rebuild Ukraine as a comfortable place for all people
As of September 1, 2022, at least 1,788 educational and medical institutions had been destroyed and 211 cultural facilities damaged. According to preliminary estimates by analysts, which are relied on by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, more than 2.4 million Ukrainians lived in destroyed or severely damaged housing. These houses should be restored not in their original form, but with all aspects of inclusiveness taken into account.
We wanted to reach out to those who would be rebuilding and participating in the development of post-war Ukraine: to provide them with up-to-date and clear information about the inclusivity of infrastructure, commercial and residential buildings. However, speaking directly to this audience is not easy. So we decided to seek an approach through their children, friends, and general social pressure.
So we decided on three main blocks of products. The first was outdoor and digital advertising, for which we developed five thematic posters. They could be seen on the streets and in the Kyiv subway, as well as on the Intercity.
The second element was an animated music video about barrier-free Ukrainian cities, created together with alyona alyona.
The third element was a video exhibit where familiar characters – Panda and Giraffe – decide to create a video blog to talk about specific problems related to inclusiveness in our cities.
We complemented our media and influencer campaign by ensuring that our messages were disseminated through various channels, including social media and other digital platforms.
